Director Raihan Rafi’s Toofan marks Shakib Khan’s 250th film and can be characterized as a violent, fast-paced action thriller centered around the protagonist, Toofan. This character ascends to power after eliminating a formidable gangster at the tender age of 15. Recognizing his potential, he is taken under the wing of a notorious Don, Bashir (Misha Sawdagor), who mentors him, leading Toofan to become increasingly ruthless and reckless in his quest for dominance. Eventually, the government, which he has aided in gaining power, perceives him as a threat and decides to eliminate him. To evade this fate, Toofan resorts to using his lookalike, struggling actor Shanto.
In terms of performances, Shakib Khan effectively embodies the innocent persona of Shanto while commanding presence as Toofan. Mimi Chakraborty, portraying his girlfriend Suchona, has a few notable scenes and presents a more compelling and well-developed character compared to the unfortunate Julie, played by Masuma Rahman Nabila. Loknath Dey and Gazi Rakayet offer solid support, contributing to Sultan’s harrowing journey as he embarks on a series of violent rampages, solidifying his reputation as a merciless figure.
